Refund Policy

Effective Date: August 5, 2026 · Last Updated: August 5, 2026

This policy is part of the Terms of Service.

Cancel any time. You get the unused time back.

When you cancel a plan, the unused portion of your current billing period is refunded to your payment method automatically. Two weeks into a month, you get two weeks back. The same rule applies to annual plans, prorated across the year.

No cancellation fee. No minimum term. No retention call.

If you are still inside your free trial, nothing has been charged yet, so cancelling costs nothing — your card is simply never charged.

How cancelling works

Cancel from your account page. You signed up online, so you cancel online — we will not ask you to phone us, email us, wait for business hours, or talk to anyone first.

Before you confirm, we show you the exact refund amount, calculated from the time remaining in your period. It goes back to the original payment method. Card refunds typically settle within five to ten business days, depending on your bank — that part is not ours to control.

What happens to your machine

Your machine hibernates and your data is preserved for 90 days. Resubscribe within that window and it wakes up exactly where you left it.

After 90 days, your data is permanently deleted. That deletion is irreversible — we cannot recover it and neither can we recreate it. Export anything you want to keep before the window closes. You can export at any time.

Prepaid balance

Your prepaid balance is separate from your plan and works differently.

Balance is prepaid credit for services we provide you. It is dollar-denominated, it does not expire, and it is spend-only: it pays for metered usage as you incur it. It does not convert back to cash, cannot be withdrawn, and cannot be transferred to another customer.

So: top up for what you actually intend to use. Cancelling your plan does not convert a remaining balance into a refund — it stays on your account and is still there if you come back.

Two exceptions, and we will apply them without argument:

  1. If we failed you. If we charged you for something we did not provide, or metered usage was billed in error, we refund it in cash — not credit.
  2. If the law requires it. Some state laws require refund of unused prepaid balances in certain circumstances. Where that applies to you, it wins over this policy, and you do not need to cite the statute — just ask.

Annual plans

Annual plans are prorated on the same basis as monthly ones: cancel in month four and you are refunded the remaining eight months.

Marketplace purchases

If you bought an application from another customer through the marketplace, your contract for it is with the seller, and their refund terms apply. Contact them first.

If a seller will not honour what they promised, tell us at support@privatae.ai. We can remove an application and act against a seller who misrepresents what they sell. We are not the seller and we do not guarantee third-party applications — but a marketplace that ignores this is not one worth selling on, so we would rather hear about it.

If we terminate your account

If we close your account without cause, we refund the unused portion of your period on the same prorated basis.

If we close it because you breached the Terms — unlawful use, abuse, attacking the platform — we do not refund. The 90-day data window still applies, so you can still get your data out.

Chargebacks

If something is wrong, tell us before you tell your bank. We will almost always fix it faster, and we would rather refund you than argue.

Filing a chargeback without contacting us may result in your account being suspended while the dispute is resolved, because our payment processor freezes the account automatically. That is a mechanical consequence, not a punishment, but it is worth knowing before you do it.
