C-Series

Open source · available now

An open-source AI agent that runs on your own machine.

Each running instance of C-Series is a Host: one AI with its own memory, its own database, its own apps and its own rules, used from a browser. It runs sandboxed in a small Linux virtual machine, and the bastion, a separate program on the machine itself, decides what the Host may touch there.

AGPL-3.0 · Your own model keys · Windows, macOS and Linux

Where it stands

Install it with one command.

On Windows 10 (build 19041 or later) or Windows 11, macOS 13.5 or later, or Linux with /dev/kvm, on an x64 or Arm64 machine with hardware virtualisation turned on, Node.js 18 or later and about 10 GB of free disk, run:

npx cseries

What it is

One Host, on one machine.

  1. A Host of its own
Each running instance is a Host: one AI with its own memory, its own PostgreSQL database, its own apps and its own rules, used from a browser.
  2. Sandboxed
It runs in a small Linux virtual machine as two containers, the Host and its database. Its dashboard listens on 127.0.0.1 only.
  3. The bastion decides
A separate program, the bastion, runs on the machine itself and decides what the Host may touch there.
  4. Your models
Bring a key from OpenRouter, Anthropic, OpenAI or another provider, or a model server on another machine on your network. C-Series does not sell or proxy model usage.

License

Open source.

C-Series is licensed AGPL-3.0. The bastion is a separate program, licensed GPL-3.0-or-later. You pay your model provider for what you use.

For organizations

Running agents across a team?

C-Series runs one Host on one machine. For Hosts across an organization, behind an edge that checks who is signing in, see E-Series. To find out what the agents already on your machines can reach, book an assessment.
